After school Mike has decided to pause his piano lessons, motivating with that he wishes to concentrate on study. Fortunately for us, refusal of classical etudes and exercises only has forced the talent of musician, and Mike has suddenly found out that he can easily play that music which isborn in his head. So, in 2007 his first album “Melody” has been recorded.
"I'm really inspired by other pianists and instrumental post-rock music", - Mike says. "Two of my favorite pianists include Dustin O'Halloran and Ludovico Einaudi. They're both brilliant and incredibly talented. I aspire to one day be able ot play like they do. Some of my other sources of inspiration are bands like Explosions in the Sky, God is an Astronaut, Mogwai, Red Sparowes, and others. I love that kind of music!"
Album art for second album, “Piano Action!”, which is drawn in warm colors, made by classmate of Mike, Xavier Valentino. Xavier has agreed to make an art, but the only thing that he has asked was music. A canvas, paints and Mike’s music – that’s all the magic!
On Mike’s homepage there is short review, written by Luenda Alia, in which she is noticed that this kind of music – an excellent background for dreaming. Mike answers…
"When people tell me my music is calming enough to put them to sleep, I'm flattered. I remember once when I was younger, I was playing piano for my parents in the living room. They were lying on the couches just listening, and I was playing something soft and calming. My dad started to doze off, and he began to quietly snore. My mom awoke him saying, "Mike's playing! Listen & pay attention!" I cut her off: "No no, Mom, let him sleep! If I can put someone to sleep with my music, I have done a good job!".
Many of my friends say they put my piano music on while they're studying or while they're sleeping, and I think that's great. I hope to achieve a similar result on my next CD!"
