Allerst lebe ich mir werde
sit min sündic ouge siht
daz reine lant und ouch die erde
den man so vil eren gibt
mirst geschehen des ich ie bat
ich bin komen an die stat
da got mennischlichen trat

Schoenu lant rich unde here
swaz ich der noch han gesehen,
so bist duz ir aller ere:
waz ist wunders hie geschehen!
daz ein maget ein kint gebar
here ueber aller engel schar
was daz nicht ein wunder gar?

Hie liez er sich reine toufen
daz der mensche reine si.
do liez er sich herre verkoufen
daz wir eigen wurden fri
anders waeren wir verlorn:
wol dir, sper, kriuz unde dorn!
we dir, heiden! deist dir zorn.

The Land of the Lord

Only now, do I find my life vital, as my sinful eye beholds the holy land and the Earth, which thou so adoringly blessed. It has [bad word] of me, what I have always prayed for, I have arrived at the place, where god changed into the likeness of man.

Beautiful lands, rich and splendid, how many of them I have seen, thou art their King! What a miracle has came to pass here! That a virgin birthed a child, Lord over the army of all the angels, was that not the miracle of all miracles?

Here the holy one allowed himself to be baptized, so that even Man be pure. Then he let himself be betrayed and bound, so that we would be free, otherwise we would be lost. Thank you, spear, cross and crown of thorns! Woe betide you, heathens, his wrath be upon thee!
