Buddy Guy's bluesy, humpin' rendition of Sir Mack Rice's "Mustang Sally," popularized by Wilson Pickett, stands tall as one of the best versions of the tale of the girl who angered her man by riding around in her new Mustang all day instead of taking care of business at home. Rock guitarist Jeff Beck adds some extra hop to the rhythm, one of four guitarists on the session; Guy, Neil Hubbard, and John Porter are the other three. With bassist Greg Szab, they give the tune fret power. Southern horns are interspersed with tasty [bad word] to undress the blues song into something more palatable for the masses without abandoning its roots.
