My head hangs 
With disappointment at arm's length. 
That feeling of losing your breath. 
So I watched from afar, 
As the knots slowly unwound, 
I felt my smile fade forever. 

We were once the sun 
Breaking the horizon, 
How our light reaches the stars 
And they succumb. 
But times got hard. 
We pushed and we lost. 
We didn't know much about giving up 
Until we gave up on us. 

Then you were finally swept away, 
With my heart. 
I watched the contrails of our love fade 
Before I heard the news, 
That it went down in the sea. 
And I will cherish the memories. 
And I will place these flowers so gently.
