Based in Sweden, SPEKTRUM is a project band which formation started during the recording of Swedish act GRAND STAND's "Tricks of Time" album. Hansi Cross (guitars, keyboards, backing vocals) and Olov Andersson (keyboards, backing vocals) started talking about some compositions Olov had that really didn't fit with the style of his band GRAND STAND, and Hansi got interested. Pretty soon they recruited Göran Fors (bass, taurus, backing vocals) from GALLEON, Göran Johnsson (drums, keyboards, backing vocals) from GRAND STAND ( currently a member of Hansi's outfit CROSS) and Lizette (vocals) to participate in the project, which was released in 2003.
As the members of this project all are active in other bands it remains to be seen whether or not this will be a one-off project; as of 2005 there were plans for a follow up release but no news has surfaced sine then.
WHY IS THIS BAND LISTED AT PROGARCHIVES:
SPEKTRUM is a band whose musical explorations are highly influenced by late 70's GENESIS, and their compositions are pretty similar to an act like IQ in sound. This puts them firmly inside the parameter of Neo Progressive as defined by Progarchives, and was a natural inclusion to the database.
