Suur Härg

Toodi härga Türgimaalta,
Suuri sõnni Soomemaalta.
Kes pole iial ikkes olnud,
Kümnel aastal kündnud maada.
Tuhat sülda turja laia,
Sada sülda sarved pikad.
Kui ta ammus, taevas kõikus,
Kui ta mõiras, maa värises.
Härg oli suuri, oli paksu,
Kündis mäed, kündis männid,
Kündis kuused kummulisti,
Pedakad päris pikali.
Jäin ma meesi mõtlemaie,
Et kust saan härja tappejaida,
Suure sõnni surmajaida,
Seda jäin ma mõtlemaie.
Tõin siis tapja Tartumaalta,
Teise tapja Türgimaalta.
Sada meest oli sarvessagi,
Ei saand härga ära tappa.
Tuli mu väike vennakane,
Sõrme [bad word] poisikene.
Kämmelil tema käänas [bad word] tema rutjus härja.
Verda sai venegi täie,
Rasva suure laeva täie,
Sääreluist sai sängisambad,
Reieluist sai rihvelpüssi

Huge Ox

An ox was brought from Turkey
huge bull (was brought) from Finland
One who has never been bridled
For ten years he had plowed the land
His back was a thousand fathoms wide
His horns were a hundred fathoms long
When he mooed the sky shook
When he roared the land trembled
The ox was huge, was fat
Plowed the mountains, plowed the pines
He plowed the fir-trees upside down

I, a man, started to wonder
Where I could get an ox-slayer
killer of the huge bull
That's what I wondered
Thus I brought a slayer from Tartu
And another slayer from Turkey
His single horn had the might of a 100 men
The ox could not be killed
Then there came my little brother
boy the size of a finger
With his hands he bended the ox
With his fists he kicked the ox
There was a boatful of blood
There was a great shipful of fat
His tibias were carved into bedposts
His femurs were carved into a rifle gun
