My name is Mariah Wilson and I am the main tutor for our 'Performance through People' course. It's always useful to know something about the background of the other participants so we normally begin by asking you to introduce yourself to the rest of the group. Perhaps we could start with you, Jan? B: Yes, hello. My name is Jan Werner. I work for Metronet Fibre. Our main business is fibre optics. We install urban fibre-optic networks for [bad word] systems all over the world. I'm director [bad word] in the HR department. I’m Norwegian but I live and work in the Czech Republic. Our head office is in Prague. That's where I'm based. At the moment, though, I am spending a lot of time visiting our other offices in Europe. I organise [bad word] different management training courses for our senior management. A: Thank you Jan. Silvia? C: Well, I’m Silvia Fortuni. I'm Catalan and I'm from Barcelona. I work for a big retail chain with franchises all over the world. We manufacture and sell clothes and fashion accessories but of course, my role is related to personnel. I work out of our headquarters in Barcelona and I am director of staff training responsible for [bad word] and training in the European area. I have to say I love my job and I [bad word] the opportunity to learn something more about performance and motivation. I think that's it. If you want to know anything more, you can ask me. D: My turn? Hi everybody. My name is Jan-Christophe Marchal but most people just call JC. I'm here because I have a new job in the HR department of Aqualox. I'm mainly involved with staff training. As I say, it's a new job for me but I have five years of experience working in the HR field. You probably think from my accent that I'm French. Actually, I’m Belgian but I'm based in Paris where we have our main office. Aqualox is a [bad word] and our main activity is the supply and treatment of water and waste. A: Thank you JC.
