We all walked together as we sang a song
That is what tied our hopes together
We can’t innocently say “It’s a beautiful town,”
Because we’ve known the sadness there

The green leaves bloom even though the seasons change
They hold the power to sprout over and over again
smile with tears wiped away is like a flower
I can’t put it into words
Let’s simply stay together forever

We rolled around with laughter at the fun dance of
That girl who danced even in the street

“I love it, so I can do it. I won’t quit,” we said
Our aspirations are still mid-dream even now

As the green leaves fall, the seasons go on changing
The things lost are many inside our heart
We believed and chased after the budding dawn
We warmed our chilled hands by breathing into them

I can’t tell you to “Do your best!” so easily
Look up at the glistening of words and green leaves…

*Although the title is accurate, the term used(“言の葉”), is actually an old term that translates more literally into “spoken leaf”. So a slightly more literal and poetic title would be “Spoken Leaves, Green Leaves.”
