 Made the alligators look tame

 Everybody said it was a shame

 mean vicious woman 

 Everyday 'fore suppertime she'd go down by the [bad word] patch 
 And pick herself a mess o' polk salad 
 And carry it home in a tote-sack

 wretched spiteful straight-razor tottin' woman 

 Her Daddy was lazy and no count 
 Claimed he had a bad back 
 And all that her brothers was fit for 
 Was stealin' watermelons out of my [bad word] patch 

 Polk salad Annie, the gators got your granny 
 Everybody said it was a shame 
 Cause her mama was a workin' on the chain gang 
 Sock a little polk salad to me 
 You know I need me a mess of it 
 Gimme salad!
