Listening Activity 2 - Hello, Hazel. - Hi - Emm... Could you tell us how many languages you speak and which ones they are? -Yes, I speak three languages. English, French and Walsh. - Oh, how interesting. How did you learn them? - Well, slosh upping Wales and you have to learn Walsh when you at school. And French I chose to learn I thought it would be, you know, useful to learn it. - Right. And ... to remember from school? - Well, not really. I forgot most of it cause it really was long time ago. - What was the most difficult aspect of learning it? - Well, I was quite embarrassed when may have to speak French in front of the rest of the class, you know, horrible pronunciation and some things. I also think the [bad word] is very difficult, because it is always so fast. - Oh, [bad word] incomplete. - Yes, it's difficult to keep up, you know. - What is the useful thing to do it? - I think the grammatical system is the most useful because if you learn about grammar in another language you can relate it to your own native language, and I think that's very helpful. - It's the way... - Yeah - I think really. - Michael - Hi - How many languages do you speak in and which ones are they? - Well, I speak English and I speak German. - How did you learn them? - I was living in Germany. Actually, my parents lived in Germany, and I had to learn to speak German or not to speak to anybody. - When you learned at school. - Aha, I went to school and I had to speak German in class, but always spoke English at home. - Right. And what was most difficult aspect to learn a foreign language? - Oh, I suppose getting it perfect. I mean now even I make mistakes all the time and Germans would laugh at me, but this thing to understand I try to repeat all the time. - What do you think the best way of learning languages? - I think to go to the country that speaks that language and you have to thrown yourself to the any native speaker. - I think it's probably a lot easier to learn a language when you're young. - Yes, and maybe less afraid of making mistakes. - Hmm...
