Invisible [Album: One More Light - 2017] (исполнитель: Linkin Park)
[Verse 1] I've got an aching head Echoes and buzzing noises I know the words we said But wish I could've turned our voices down This is not black and white Only organized confusion I'm just trying to get it right And in spite of all I should've done [bad word] I was not mad at you I was not trying to tear you down The words that I could've used I was too scared to say out loud If I cannot break your fall I'll pick you up right off the ground If you felt invisible, I won't let you feel that now [bad word] Invisible, invisible Invisible, invisible [Verse 2] You didn't get your way And it's an empty feeling You've got a lot to say And you just want to know you're being heard But this is not black and white There are no clear solutions I'm just trying to get it right And in spite of all I should've done [bad word] I was not mad at you I was not trying to tear you down The words that I could've used I was too scared to say out loud If I cannot break your fall I'll pick you up right off the ground If you felt invisible, I won't let you feel that now [bad word] Invisible, invisible Invisible, invisible [Bridge] This is not black and white There are no clear solutions I'm just trying to get it right And in spite of all I should've done [bad word] I was not mad at you I was not trying to tear you down The words that I could've used I was too scared to say out loud If I cannot break your fall I'll pick you up right off the ground If you felt invisible, I won't let you feel that now [bad word] Invisible, invisible Invisible, invisible Invisible, invisible Invisible, invisible ________________________ The song was written about Mike’s kids and the thought that when they get older and [bad word] teenagers, it will be harder to discipline them. According to him, “Invisible” sends the listener to that moment when, in a parental or mentoring situation, you have to tell your kids something they don’t want to hear. While you as a parent are doing this because you love them, the children will inevitably feel you are simply being an overbearing parent. As Mike Shinoda puts it, I have kids, they’re all very little and I realize they’re all very strong willed. If they want something a certain way or don’t want to put their socks on or they don’t want to [bad word] their teeth, they’ll make life so difficult over that one little thing. I thought, ‘Oh my God, when these kids are 16, we’re going to have the full-on God, I hate you, you don’t understand me…’ Slam the door, put on the headphones, and not listening to the parents. So I thought how cool would it be to make a song and theoretically put it in a time capsule to send it to that moment in time, when they put the headphones on. _________________________________
