The only bad thing about flying is that you have [bad word] back down to the [bad word] world. As the sampled voice in “In 1983 He Loved To Fly” tells us, the only bad thing about a high is that it doesn't last forever. 1 Mile North are one of the many bands in our scene who know they will never make a living out of their music, not because they're not talented enough, but because the world simply isn't ready for it. It appears that the band's two members have now pursued other careers, and the two albums they left behind stand as some of the best samples of otherworldly and melancholic ambient post-rock. In what is probably their best piece, they perfectly capture that feeling [bad word] with the end of something wonderful. Like the sound of the acoustic guitar and the voice of an angry young man around which the track is built, “In 1983 He Loved To Fly” [bad word] a distant memory that we do our best not to forget, knowing that one day, eventually we will.
