The most ancient text which mentions the existence of Shambala is Kalachakra Tantra (“the secret teaching about the wheel of time”), which shows a correlation between macrocosm and microcosm, between the universe and the human being. Closer to our days, Shambala was mentioned in the esoteric works by Helena Blavatsky, Charles Leadbeater, Alice Bailey, as well as Nicholas and Helena Roerich. In her letters, Helena Roerich called Shambala as the Stronghold of the Great Knowledge and Light that existed “from time immemorial, continuously staying on the watch of human evolution, observing and guiding the flow of global events in the direction of salvation.”
According to the Kalachakra teaching, Shambala is a mythical land in Asia, where Kalki Avatar, the earthly incarnation of god Vishnu will be born. He will bring hope for regeneration to mankind. Some Shambala legends say that Kalki Avatar is an earthly incarnation of [bad word] of Shambala Rigden Djappo, in whose reign a great battle between the forces of good (Shambala army) and forces of evil will take place on Earth. This battle will occur at the Crossing – during the change of eras and of the choice of every person between good and evil.
