Flashguns [bad word] & See The Lights

London based band Flashguns are quite typical of most bands around these days. All of us are getting slowly used to the fact that most styles of music are doubling back on themselves. This doesn't mean, however, that we can't enjoy a good song when we here one.

 And these are the cards that Flashguns play. Their latest single [bad word] & See The Lights' foreshadows a debut album release, and displays a re-sculptured sound of many a band who have graced the big stages over the years. What makes this a little different is that they can punch out a neat little anthem like this without blanding everything down with rather boring overproduction and soppy lyrics that enrage you so much you could kick the nearest kitten (Please refrain from actually doing this, the end is in sight!)

The song itself is very reminiscent of an early U2-styled song, full to the brim with post-punk shimmer, and enough energy to get all of you Snow Patrol apologists up and dancing the blues again. Indeed, the singer has mastered the art of “releasing the inner Bono” during the [bad word]  expelling powerful propositions over the ghostly keyboards, a nice addition that adds to the overall atmosphere without drowning it out. I can only hope that they remain [bad word] to the raw production for a full length LP. And that they don't pull an “actual Bono” over in their [bad word] German tour.

That most certainly would not be good.
