Back in the day, on the East side of town, 
a little girl sat outside of her house.

Started tellin' stories when she felt alone, 
'cause music was where she found home. 
She closed her eyes, clicked her heels thrice, 
she never took for granted that this was her life. 
Kept on & on & on & on,  [bad word]  his fingers, singin' her song. 
Always played Mama's words in a verse. 
Memorized lines; no need to rehearse.
