6. Kuolleille

Kuolleille kirjoitan nämä sanat. Kuulen
pimeydessä huutonne, näen valossa hahmonne.
Niin monta teistä jouduin hautaamaan ja
maasta kaivamaan. Juoksen kohti tuntematonta.
Ehkä kohtaan vielä jonkun teistä, vaikka tiedän
että matkamme on päättynyt. Kuulen veden
virtaavan, pesen siinä kasvoni. Olkoon
tämä lahjani teille.

To the Dead

To the Dead I write these words. In the
darkness I hear your screams, in the light I see
your figures. So many of you I had to bury and
dig up from the ground. [bad word] towards the
unknown. Perhaps I will yet meet some of you,
although I know our journey [bad word] to an end.
I hear the water flowing, I wash my face in it.
